Coil spring window balances are a type of constant force window balance. These balances work by using stainless steel, coiled spring as a counterbalance. This type of balance system is designed to be more durable and quieter than other balance systems.
The pivot lock shoe is used in tilt window applications and sits in the jamb channel and has a cam which will lock the shoe in the channel when the sash is tilted inwards. Pivot lock shoes work in tandem with window pivot bars to allow windows to tilt.
